We are well under way for a great year of art. Middle School art students have been working hard on creating some terrific clay projects. 6th Graders have finished their pinch bowls and did an awesome job experimenting with glazes for finishing!

All classes have also been working very hard to create a visual narrative with their other clay projects.  Each student has chosen a story to tell through their clay creations... here are some still in progress.

Welcome back!

Hopefully, everyone had a great summer and is ready to come back and get creative!

Just a few reminders for Art Class this year:

~Don't forget a work shirt to protect your clothes - remember we get messy.
~Please bring a wooden pencil and a pocket folder on the first day (and the rest as well).
~A sketchbook is not required, but nice to have.

See you next week!

8th Grade Students at both Riley and Baldwin Street have been studying why artists choose to create what they do.  We have just finished studying Aesthetic View Points - Subject: working realistically, Composition: focusing on the Elements and Principles of Art or Content: what the artist's message is. Students chose one view point to address in their finished drawing.  Students then researched visuals and chose a cityscape they wanted to work with; they also chose the medium they thought would work best for their final artwork

Welcome to Art with Mrs. Scott

I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Art at Baldwin Street and Riley Middle Schools. Welcome To our class!
BMS 8th grade students are currently learning about line, shape, value and movement.  The class just finished practicing using Gesture Drawing to capture movement in their artwork. Each student came up with great examples of movement!
